Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has set a new record as the first African artiste to surpass 12 billion streams on Spotify.

The milestone was announced on Monday by WizStatz, a music statistics account on the social media platform X.

In a post tagging the singer’s official handle, @wizkidayo, the account stated that Wizkid had become the first African artiste to cross the 12 billion-stream mark on Spotify across all credits.

The cumulative figure covers streams from his solo releases, collaborative projects and songs on which he featured as a guest artiste.

The 12 billion milestone came after the singer became the first African to hit 11 billion Spotify streams across all credits in May 2026.
