The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has launched his personal TikTok account.
The former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives announced his arrival on the video-sharing platform in a recent post on X, urging users to follow him for “authentic information” and “exclusive contents” about his daily life.
“I am on TikTok! I encourage you all to follow me there for authentic information, the latest updates, and exclusive contents directly related to my daily life. Nigeria will be OK,” he wrote.
Within hours of the announcement, Kwankwaso’s TikTok account had attracted more than 59,000 followers and over 178,000 likes.
His entry into TikTok comes a year after his running mate and NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, joined the platform.
The former Anambra State governor currently has more than 547,000 followers and 3.4 million likes on his TikTok page.
Kwankwaso began his political career in 1992 after being elected to the House of Representatives, where he served as deputy speaker.
He subsequently served as Kano State governor from 1999 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2015. He was also minister of defence between 2003 and 2007 and represented Kano Central in the Senate from 2015 to 2019.
Kwankwaso contested the 2023 presidential election as the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), but lost to the incumbent President, Bola Tinubu.
