An unidentified individual has reportedly broken into a car dealership and repair facility overnight, setting several luxury vehicles worth billions of naira ablaze.
Among the vehicles destroyed were Mercedes-Benz GLE models, a GLC43 and several BMWs. Videos from the scene showed severely burnt vehicles, with melted body panels and shattered windows. The dealer reportedly collapsed upon witnessing the extent of the damage.
The incident has triggered widespread sympathy on social media, with many users condemning the alleged act and expressing concerns about how the dealer would recover from the massive loss, particularly if insurance coverage is insufficient.
The incident also comes amid reports of similar fire outbreaks at vehicle dealerships across Lagos, where dozens of luxury cars have reportedly been destroyed in recent times.
