The squad was announced on Thursday at the headquarters of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil will take on Japan on November 14 before facing Singapore three days later as Ancelotti continues his rebuilding process following the team’s disappointing 2026 World Cup campaign.
Explaining Alisson’s absence, the Italian manager insisted that the Liverpool goalkeeper did not need another assessment, expressing confidence that he would return to the national team for future major competitions.
“We don’t need to test Alisson. We know him very well. He’s the best goalkeeper,” Ancelotti said. “When the Copa América starts, he’ll be called up. Like Alisson, all the others will be.”
Ancelotti explained that the upcoming fixtures would provide an opportunity to evaluate emerging talents and introduce fresh faces into the national team.
The selection reflects that approach, with nine players of Olympic age and 15 footballers under the age of 23 included in the squad.
“We need to make the most of 2027 to carry out this renewal,” he said, adding that he expects Brazil to have a more settled squad as preparations intensify for the 2028 Copa América and World Cup qualifying campaign.
Chelsea forward Estêvão has also retained his place in the team despite receiving limited playing opportunities at club level. Ancelotti maintained that the 19-year-old would continue to be monitored and given sufficient time to develop.
Meanwhile, Corinthians midfielder André and Cruzeiro defender Jonathan Jesus have received their first senior national team invitations. Manchester City forward Allan is another young prospect included in the selection.
Notably, no players from Flamengo or Palmeiras were selected following an agreement with the CBF, as both clubs remain involved in a closely contested domestic title race. Atlético Mineiro players were also excluded.
