[TRENDING VIDEO] Tithing is human principle, not God’s — Pastor Dolapo Lawal tells Oyedepo, Ibiyeomie

22

Pastor Dolapo Lawal has questioned the belief that Christians who fail to pay tithes risk experiencing financial difficulties, describing the practice as a human principle rather than God’s.

Lawal disagreed with the teachings of Bishop David Oyedepo and Pastor David Ibiyeomie on tithing, particularly the notion that withholding tithes could hinder a believer’s financial progress.

Sharing an encounter with a woman in Maryland, the pastor said he had been encouraging her to pay her tithe when she complained about her financial struggles.

According to him, the woman attributed her lack of financial progress to her inability to pay tithes consistently.

However, Lawal rejected that explanation, arguing that compulsory tithing was rooted in human principles and not God’s.

He also called on people to change their mindset and return to God, believing that doing so would bring an end to the troubles they were experiencing.
