The FCT Police Command says its Anti-Kidnapping Unit has arrested a suspect accused of sexually assaulting and impregnating a 12-year-old girl.
The command said the arrest was made on October 2, 2026, when officers on routine patrol around the Airport Bridge Taxi Park noticed a fully tinted navy blue Volkswagen vehicle with registration number KMC567LQ parked with its windows wound up.
According to SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the command, officers noticed that the vehicle was shaking and became suspicious.
“The officers, suspecting foul play, approached the vehicle and opened it, only to see one Zayyanu Halilu raping a twelve (12) year old minor.
“Following the discovery, the suspect was promptly arrested and the victim was rescued.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had, on several occasions, lured and sexually abused the underaged victim in the said vehicle parked at the same location, with threats to “deal with her” if she reveals the abuse to anyone.
“Medical examination also revealed that the victim is about three months pregnant as a result of the abuse.
“The victim is currently receiving medical care and assessment, while the suspect remains in Police custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
“The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the whereabouts, safety and welfare of their wards at all times.
