The CEO of Karib Oil and Gas Limited, Alafaa Kariboye-Igbo, has disputed [Blessing CEO]’s assertion that she received only N13 million in public donations for her cancer treatment.
The influencer revealed in January that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and appealed to the public for financial assistance to cover her surgery. The announcement, however, was met with scepticism, with critics accusing her of using the diagnosis to solicit funds.
Last Thursday, Blessing explained that she sought public support early as a financial precaution, even before knowing the procedure’s exact cost. She disclosed that her surgery had been delayed due to online controversy and that additional tests and post-operative care would increase her expenses. Raising funds early, she said, would prevent her from asking for help later if her condition worsened.
Facing ongoing criticism on Friday, Blessing defended her decision not to publicly share her cancer test results, citing medical privacy rules, and argued that even if she posted the documents, most critics would not understand them.
Blessing CEO, who had earlier claimed on social media to have “stage 4” cancer, described the situation as a “miscommunication,” adding that she had only recently received her biopsy results and has not yet begun chemotherapy. She revealed that the public donations amounted to N13 million, not the widely circulated N100 million.
Hours later, Kariboye-Igbo challenged her claim, stating that he alone had transferred N20 million to Blessing and shared a receipt of the transaction. In his caption, he accused her of fraud and living a “fake life,” writing in part: “Madam, you better return our money, you can run, but you can’t hide.”
Through his counsel, Gideon Ugochukwu Chambers, Kariboye-Igbo demanded a full refund within seven days. In a letter dated April 3, 2026, his lawyers stated the donation was made “under the representation that the funds were for a cancer-related donation” and described the claim as “false, misleading, and fraudulent.” The letter warned that failure to refund the N20 million would lead to legal action.
Checks by TheCable Lifestyle confirmed that Blessing CEO has since deactivated her Instagram account.
