Ghanaian social media personality Bannerman-Martin Lorretta, widely known as Aba Dope, has recounted her journey from enduring cyberbullying to establishing herself as a successful TikTok influencer.
Reflecting on her resilience and determination, Aba Dope spoke about the early obstacles she encountered and the milestones she has since reached.
She said, “Cyberbullying was my first difficulty, which I overcame over time. When I learned about TikTok, I was already on Snapchat, speaking about various things. When I realized I’d been detected, I switched to TikTok. When I posted a photo of my physical appearance, people complemented me”.
Aba Dope, who initially worked as a prayer secretary before transitioning into social media, revealed that her parents were unaware of her move into the entertainment industry until she appeared on television.
According to her, she began creating content on TikTok, where she initially faced criticism and online harassment. Despite this, she persisted and gradually built a strong following, eventually becoming a recognised influencer.
“In my path of content creation, I’ve accomplished a lot in terms of financial success, popularity, and celebrity. There are other problems, such as having little spare time since millions of people are eager for new content. But the good news is that it opens the road to further fame and money”, Aba Dope said.
Her distinctive style and commitment have earned her more than one million followers on TikTok. Beyond social media, she has expanded into entrepreneurship, launching her own restaurant and hosting a television programme.
Dope expressed pride in her achievements, adding, “I’m proud of myself for making it this far… I haven’t accomplished my goal yet, but I’m quite happy with my accomplishments.”
