Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs transferred to New Jersey Prison to serve four-year sentence

US hip-hop star Sean “Diddy” Combs has been transferred to a prison in New Jersey to serve his four-year and two-month sentence for prostitution-related offences, according to a federal register released on Friday.

Combs is now held at the low-security Fort Dix correctional facility, located about 130 kilometres (80 miles) south of New York. The prison is also known for its drug rehabilitation programmes.

His legal team had requested that he be moved to the institution, where he is scheduled to remain until 8 May 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

The music mogul, arrested in September 2024, was convicted in July of two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for the purpose of prostitution.

However, the jury acquitted him of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.

Before sentencing, Combs tearfully addressed the court, expressing remorse for his conduct. He apologised to his family and victims, calling his actions “disgusting, shameful, and sick.”

The judge’s ruling took into account the time Combs had already spent in custody at a high-security Brooklyn detention centre.

Combs has since lodged an appeal against both his conviction and sentence.
