Six things Tonto Dikeh said about her failed marriage that you need to know

Tonto Dikeh has shared several disturbing claims about her marriage to Churchill Olakunle Oladunni and the circumstances surrounding their separation.

In an exclusive interview with Mediaroomhub TV, the actress and mother of one spoke candidly about her experiences with her estranged husband, revealing details she says left a lasting impact on her life.

The interview, released on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, showed the Nollywood star in tears as she recounted what she described as repeated humiliations during the marriage, adding that she had evidence to support her claims.

  1. Allegations of domestic violence

According to Tonto, “This interview is not meant to discredit my husband or rather my ex-husband in anyway. It’s not to bring him down. It’s not to make people hate him. It is not to throw dirt on him.

“If there’s anything I am doing this for, is so that he can be a better man and like I said so somebody somewhere would be able to learn from this from what I am going through.

“There are some things I will not like to rediscuss. I did post something about the STD. I am not taking back my words because it is not a lie but I will not promote it”.

She added that she did not want to further embarrass her husband despite her claims. However, she said she felt compelled to speak about domestic violence.

“The domestic violence is real. It’s real. How I lived to suffer it and go through it over and over again I do not understand.

“A lot of people have blamed me… I stayed back in my marriage not because of my child… I stayed because I loved my husband with all of my heart.

“I stayed because he had begged me to stay… I didn’t want to give up on the marriage just like that. People change”.

She alleged that after violent incidents, her husband would invite pastors to intervene, but said there was never proper counselling or accountability.

During the interview, she displayed photos showing bruises and injuries, and claimed she once fled to the Nigerian embassy in Ghana after an alleged assault, saying the embassy had visual evidence of her injuries.

“My husband has humiliated me so much with this. And for anybody to tell me that I am lying against my husband that even hurts me more,” she said tearfully.

  1. Denial of claims involving her mother-in-law

Tonto denied allegations that she smoked or assaulted her mother-in-law.

“That is a lie from the devil. I am close to my mother-in-law. My mother-in-law has never ever seen me smoke,” she said, adding that she avoided even basic medication while breastfeeding to protect her child.

She insisted she never laid hands on her husband’s mother, stressing that such claims were false.

  1. Monthly drug tests and letters to her son

The actress disclosed that she undergoes regular drug tests due to allegations made against her.

“I have a file at home, I do a drug test almost every month and I write a letter to my son,” she said, explaining that she documents her journey as a mother and the sacrifices she has made for her child.

She said the accusations deeply hurt her and affected her emotionally.

  1. Claims of undisclosed children

Tonto alleged that her husband may have other children apart from their son, Andre, saying she was initially misled about his past.

“My son is not the first child my husband has,” she said, adding that she later received messages from women claiming to have children for him, though she admitted she could not verify those claims.

  1. Allegations involving another woman

Tonto claimed that her husband abandoned her and their son due to a relationship with a woman named Rosaline.

“I am aware that she is sleeping with my husband… and that she is the reason that my husband abandoned his son and me for close to two months,” she said.

She further alleged that her husband financially supported the woman and even bought her a car.

  1. Leaving the marriage without property

The actress also stated that contrary to reports, her husband did not buy a car for their son. She said she left her matrimonial home with nothing and, at the time, relied on ride-hailing services to take her son to and from school.

The interview added to the intense public attention surrounding the couple’s troubled marriage and eventual separation.
