The Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, has commenced a probe into the mysterious death of two Nollywood production crew members who were found lifeless inside a parked vehicle at a location in Lekki Phase 1 where a movie was being shot.
The deceased were identified as Godstime Imeh, a lighting director and Chief Executive Officer of GeeTee Light, and Walter Odediran, a creative video director popularly known as Director Carrinqton. Their bodies were discovered on the evening of Saturday, February 7, 2026, inside Imeh’s car. The project was reportedly directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate, Boma.
According to sources, the duo had arrived early at the set to fix lighting equipment. After finishing their setup around mid-morning, they reportedly chose to rest inside Imeh’s tinted Nissan vehicle while waiting for further instructions. Around 11 a.m., a member of the crew brought them breakfast consisting of yam and omelette.
They were last seen reclining in the vehicle with the air-conditioning switched on. Concern arose when repeated phone calls to them went unanswered by midday. By evening, colleagues found them unresponsive inside the car.
In an interview with Vanguard, Kola Odediran, elder brother of Walter, shared his grief: “Walter and I were like twin brothers. He was 36 and the last-born of our family. He was very close to Godstime Imeh. They worked hand-in-hand on movie productions.”
He described the events leading up to the tragedy: “On Saturday, February 7, they had a medical scene to shoot at Evercare Hospital. Around 10 a.m., they decided to take a break inside GeeTee’s car. Food was delivered to them; that was the last time anyone saw them alive. Around 7 or 8 p.m., after shooting wrapped, they were found inside the car. My brother was seated upright with foam at his mouth, while GeeTee was slumped, with blood from his nose, eyes, and mouth. It appeared whatever happened occurred suddenly.”
Odediran criticised the initial handling of the case, stating: “The case was first reported at Maroko Police Station but was not treated urgently. We had to escalate it to SCID, Yaba, where it was documented as an unnatural death requiring investigation and autopsy. Everybody was invited—the producer, Boma, and the boy who served the food.”
Police authorities have confirmed that the film producer, the food vendor, the staff member who delivered the meal, and the hospital management have all been questioned. The food vendor is currently in custody.
Investigators are exploring possible environmental causes, ingestion-related factors, and mechanical issues, including the presence of heavy-duty industrial generators located above the parking area. Forensic examinations such as autopsy, toxicology screening, vehicle inspection, and CCTV analysis are underway to establish the precise cause of death. Officials say no possibility has been ruled out pending laboratory findings.
“It has been very difficult for our family. My mother is devastated. He was the last-born. We were just two male children. This has been extremely painful for us,” Kola Odediran added.
