Yomi Fabiyi tackles Mohbad’s widow Wunmi over court restraining order

Yomi Fabiyi, a Nigerian actor, has pledged to disregard a court order prohibiting him from speaking publicly about Wunmi, the widow of the late singer Mohbad.

In a bold TikTok video, Fabiyi reacted to a recent ruling by a magistrate court in Ikeja, Lagos, which restricted him and four others — including Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba — from making public statements about Wunmi and her son, Liam.

He openly rejected the court’s directive, arguing that his statements have been “legitimate and lawful.” Fabiyi also accused Wunmi of misusing her influence to avoid being investigated by the police.

Identifying himself as a complainant in the ongoing probe into Mohbad’s death, the actor claimed Wunmi has been evading law enforcement inquiries.

“I have never committed a crime by mentioning your name, Wunmi. I will tell the judge that I will continue to mention your name, and I will give my reasons,” he said.

“The way I have been mentioning your name is legitimate and lawful. This is a public matter of great importance, and I will not stop.

“Wunmi, you went to get a court order that I and some others should not mention your name again, but I will continue to do so. Were you not in the house when Mohbad died?

“You are abusing power because of the small change you have. I have not even publicly declared that you killed Mohbad.

“I am still taking my time, but you must submit yourself to police investigation. I will not accept these attempts to dodge, because I am a complainant in this case, and when your attention is needed, you keep avoiding it.”

He challenged the basis of the order, questioning, “Should I mention another person’s name? What is so special about your name?”

Fabiyi further framed his stance as part of the pursuit for justice, daring Wunmi to meet him in court.

“Have you forgotten that you also went to media houses and mentioned my name? Let us meet in court,” he added.

“We are talking about an innocent boy who was killed untimely. Who do you think you are dealing with?”
