84-year-old man rescued from deep well in Lagos

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has reported a successful rescue after receiving a distress call at about 10:09 a.m. on Tuesday from No. 35A, Fadeyemi Street, Pipeline area of Aboru, in the Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA of Lagos State.

The agency said its rescue team, with support from officers of the Abesan Fire Station, was immediately deployed and reached the scene around 10:20 a.m.

The emergency involved an 84-year-old man who accidentally fell into a well believed to be about 140 feet deep.

Preliminary assessments by emergency responders indicated that the well was properly secured, raising suspicions that the incident may have been deliberate.

Firefighters successfully retrieved the elderly man from the well and handed him over to his family for immediate care and further attention.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to swift emergency response and urged residents to promptly alert relevant authorities whenever emergencies arise.
