The governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani, has assured President Bola Tinubu that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure 95 percent of the votes in Kaduna during the 2027 general election.
The governor made this declaration on Saturday at a mega rally held at Murtala Square, Kaduna, where four state assembly members, five house of representatives lawmakers, and thousands of their supporters officially defected to the APC.
With these defections, the party now holds 13 out of Kaduna’s federal house of representatives seats, leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with just three. In the state assembly, the APC now commands 26 seats, while the PDP controls eight.
“We don’t have any opposition in Kaduna,” Sani said.
“I promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu some months ago that we were looking at 80 percent of the votes.
“But today, I have shifted my ground; about 95 percent of the total votes in Kaduna state will go to APC in 2027.”
The governor said the wave of defections to the APC reflects confidence in his government’s commitment to justice, fairness, and inclusive governance.
“Our state is the most diverse in Nigeria. We used our diversity as strength, and that’s why we’ve not had one single ethno-religious crisis since we came in,” Sani added.
“Politics is about unity. Poverty has no respect for religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.”
He assured the new entrants that they would be given equal treatment within the party.
“Those that have joined our party today and those that have been with us since inception will have the same privilege,” he said.
The event drew top political figures, including Nentawe Yilwatda, APC national chairman; Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house of representatives; and Balarabe Abbas Lawal, minister of environment.
Yilwatda described the APC as “the promised land” for Nigerian politicians and said both Tinubu and Sani deserve second terms based on their performance in office.
Abbas noted that the APC has attained unmatched political strength in Kaduna.
“Today, whether in Zone 1, Zone 2, or Zone 3, APC is the party to beat. We’ve never been this strong before,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Hussaini Jalo declared Kaduna a one-party state and expressed confidence that Tinubu and Sani would be re-elected in 2027.
Among those who defected were Sadiq Ango (Sabon Gari), Abdulkarim Husseini Ahmad (Kaduna South), Aliyu Mustapha Abdullahi (Ikara/Kubau), and Hussaini Jalo (Igabi), along with former senators Danjuma Lah, Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, Shehu Sani, former governor Muktar Ramalan Yero, and Saidu Adamu, a former PDP state secretary.
