JUST IN: Sanwo-Olu signs ₦4.4tn 2026 Lagos budget into law

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday formally assented to the ₦4.4 trillion 2026 budget.

The budget signing was held at the Conference Room of Lagos House, Alausa Secretariat in Ikeja.

Earlier in January, the Lagos State House of Assembly had passed the appropriation bill, christened the “Budget of Shared Prosperity.”

The lawmakers approved legislation permitting the issuance and allocation of ₦4,444,509,776,438 for the 2026 financial year.

Present at the ceremony were the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; members of the State Executive Council; the Head of Service, Bode Agoro; lawmakers from the Lagos State House of Assembly; and other key stakeholders.

According to reports, while presenting the appropriation bill to the House in November 2025, Sanwo-Olu said the budget was designed to promote prosperity and build a Lagos that benefits all residents.

“Our mission remains clear: to eradicate poverty and build a Lagos that works for all.

“Our vision continues to guide every fiscal decision we make—to deliver a Greater Lagos where shared prosperity is not an aspiration but a lived and felt reality,” the governor said.

Sanwo-Olu added that the budget is anchored on four pillars, a human-centred approach, modern infrastructure, a thriving economy, and effective governance, all aligned with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda.
