NiMet predicts nationwide thunderstorms, moderate Rainfall

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across different parts of the country on Monday, September 15, 2025.

In its daily weather outlook shared on its official X handle, NiMet indicated that northern states will witness isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains in the morning over areas including Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba.

By afternoon and evening, thunderstorms with moderate rains are also expected in Borno, Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi, and Katsina.

For the central region, NiMet predicts cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine in the morning, with chances of moderate rainfall over Niger, Kogi, Kwara, the Federal Capital Territory, and Benue. Isolated thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are likely across much of the region later in the day.

In the southern states, the agency projects a cloudy morning with chances of moderate rainfall in Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River. Moderate rains are also anticipated across many states in the afternoon and evening.

The agency further issued an advisory warning that flash floods are likely in parts of Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe. It also cautioned that thunderstorms may temporarily disrupt outdoor activities.

NiMet urged residents of flood-prone areas to stay vigilant and advised motorists to drive cautiously, noting that rainfall could reduce visibility and make roads slippery.
