Two US service members were killed and another remains missing after Iran launched ballistic missile and drone attacks on Jordan on Friday.
According to the BBC, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said four American service members were medically evacuated to hospitals in Jordan following the attacks but have since been discharged.
Other personnel who sustained minor injuries have returned to duty.
Earlier, Jordan’s military said it intercepted 10 Iranian missiles that entered its airspace overnight and reported no damage.
The US military also said it carried out a seventh consecutive night of strikes on Iran after President Donald Trump declared that the temporary ceasefire agreement between the two countries was “over”.
The latest fatalities bring the number of US service members killed in the ongoing conflict with Iran to 14.
On March 1, six US army reserve soldiers were killed in a direct Iranian strike on a makeshift operations centre at Kuwait’s Shuaiba Port.
A few days later, an army sergeant died from injuries sustained during an attack in Saudi Arabia.
On March 12, six service members were killed when a US Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker refuelling aircraft crashed in western Iraq. CNN reported that the incident was “not due to hostile or friendly fire.”
The latest casualties come as the fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran has effectively collapsed, with both sides resuming military attacks this week.
