France captain Kylian Mbappé has filed a claim for €263 million in damages against Paris Saint-Germain, escalating a long-running dispute over his contract situation and his treatment by the club, according to France 24.
PSG has responded with a countersuit worth 240 million euros in Paris’s labour court, a figure tied to a failed 300-million-euro transfer to Saudi side Al Hilal, which the player declined.
Mbappé, 26, first submitted a complaint in June, alleging he was unfairly treated by PSG at the start of the 2023–24 season.
He maintains that after refusing to sign a new contract, he was removed from the main squad by the Qatari-owned club and required to train with players the club intended to sell.
This approach has reportedly affected other players as well, prompting the French players’ union to file a complaint last year.
Mbappé was excluded from PSG’s 2023 pre-season tour of Asia and missed their opening match of the season, though he was later reinstated following discussions with club officials.
After seven seasons with PSG, he completed a free transfer to Real Madrid last summer, where he reportedly earns an annual salary of 30 million euros.
During his time with PSG, Mbappé scored 256 goals in 308 appearances. The club went on to win the Champions League for the first time last season, following his departure.
