‘We have bills to pay,’ Tinubu says he’ll skip some APC campaign rallies

President Bola Tinubu says he will prioritise governance as preparations gather momentum for next year’s election, noting that he will be absent from some campaign rallies organised by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The President made this known on Wednesday during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu stressed that governing the country requires constant attention, adding that his presidential responsibilities would not be put on hold because of electioneering activities.

“Nigeria needs more attention now than ever before. The responsibility of this office does not pause,” the President said.

“The job must go on. However, I will still make time to speak directly with Nigerians, even as you lead the campaign in the states and local government areas. So you will excuse me from going everywhere with you,” Tinubu told the gathering.

He also highlighted the need to meet the country’s financial obligations and attract long-term investments, particularly from foreign investors.

“We have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait. We want those investors to come in, be here to stay, to invest for the future of our children.”
