The Chairman, Ekiti Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Adebanji Alabi, has urged immunology and virology experts in the country’s tertiary institutions to find a cure for the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.

The monarch also urged the Federal Government to direct the experts to harness their researches in developing a vaccine for the virus.

Alabi, who is the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, stated this on Friday in Ilawe Ekiti, while distributing palliatives to the vulnerable in his domain.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the bold steps taken so far in fighting the scourge in the country, stressing that the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 had been doing a great job.

The royal father said that it would be a thing of joy if Nigerian scientists could come up with homemade cure or vaccine for the pandemic.

According to him, Nigeria can develop local herbal mixture, which, he says, has worked for the people of Madagascar.

He also stressed that some Nigerians, who were specialists in herbal medicine, should be directed to come up with homemade solutions to the scourge.

The monarch expressed the belief that there could be a breakthrough if those given the assignment were properly monitored and motivated.

He lauded Gov. Kayode Fayemi for his purposeful leadership, particularly in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in the state.

The royal father enjoined the people of the state to adhere strictly to the guidelines provided by the government and the health professionals in order to break the chain of transmission of the deadly virus.
