LAGOS State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has presented staff of office to the Onisolu of Solu Alade Kingdom, Ibeju-Lekki, Babatunde Adebowale Muideen Balogun.
The governor, who described the event as ‘memorable and historic’, urged the people to support the monarch to safeguard the sanctity of the sacred institution.
Sanwo-Olu, represented by Local Government and Community Affairs Commissioner Wale Ahmed, congratulated Balogun on the special honour bestowed on him.
He said the institution of traditional obaship remained a rallying point, adding that it had served as a vehicle for the dissemination of government policies and mobilisation of people.
Special Adviser to the governor on Chieftaincy Affairs Prince Bayo Oshiyemi advised the people to maintain infrastructure provided by the government for the betterment of the community.
Chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs Sobur Olawale urged the monarch to be magnanimous in victory and carry everybody along to make his tenure peaceful and prosperous.
Oba Balogun thanked Sanwo-Olu for approving his instrument of appointment. He hailed him for his dynamic leadership and passion to take Lagos to an enviable height.
He also promised to carry his subjects along, saying he would not disappoint them.
