Why I’m still friends with Hushpuppi – Daddy Freeze

Media celebrity Daddy Freeze has talked about his relationship with Hushpuppi, an internet fraudster who was arrested in 2020 for being a part of a global cybercrime network.

According to Tunde Ednut’s most recent video, Daddy Freeze asserted that Hushpuppi never gave him money but instead offered him friendship during a trying period.

When Daddy Freeze received an invitation to Dubai along with other influencers, he claims that their friendship started.

At the time, he was facing rejection from his church and the public due to his #FreeTheSheepple movement.

He said Hushpuppi reached out to him via DM, inviting him to hang out and they spent time, taking pictures and sharing them on Snapchat.

Daddy Freeze questioned why he should be expected to abandon their friendship, stating that Hushpuppi was a friend when nobody else wanted to associate with him.

While acknowledging that he might have suspected Hushpuppi’s wealth was not legitimate, Daddy Freeze cited Davido’s lyrics, “dey for who dey for you,” which implies the importance of loyalty.

[JUST IN] Kogi Jailbreak: FG recaptures 5 fleeing inmates

The Federal Government has apprehended five of the 12 detainees who escaped from lawful custody during Monday’s breakout at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Koton Karfe, Kogi state.

The incident happened early on Monday, March 24, 2024, according to a statement from DCC Abubakar Umar, spokesman for the Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS.

“Unfortunately, some inmates in a section of the facility manipulated the padlocks during the incident, which resulted in the escape of 12 inmates,” he stated.

“Upon receiving reports of the attack, the Acting Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche MFR, mni, in collaboration with heads of sister security agencies including the SSA to the Governor of Kogi State immediately mobilized to the facility, and personnel were deployed to secure the facility, restore order, and initiate a manhunt for the escapees.

“As of this moment, 5 of the fleeing inmates have been recaptured, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining inmates and bring them to justice”, he stated.

According to him, the Acting Controller General of Corrections has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escapes.

“Additionally, a security audit is being conducted across all correctional facilities nationwide to prevent future occurrences.

“The Service urges members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing any useful information that may assist in the recapture of those still at large. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.

“The Service assures Nigerians that the safety of custodial centres remains a top priority, and measures are being reinforced to strengthen security across all facilities. The NCoS remains committed to ensuring that correctional facilities fulfil their mandate of safe custody, rehabilitation, and reintegration of inmates”, the service added.

  • Popular Islamic clerics fight dirty over voodoo, lineage claims

Muslim communities have been picking sides after Sheikh Muhammed Adam (Al-ilory), the Murdir (leader) of the popular Islamic school Markaz Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies in Lagos State’s Agege neighbourhood, accused popular cleric Sheikh Sulaimon Farooq, also known as Onikijipa, of orchestrating his recent illness through evil means.

Speaking during the institution’s 2025 Ramadan Tafseer Program on Sunday, Adam made this accusation.

The term “tafseer” is derived from the Arabic word “fasara,” which denotes the exegesis or commentary on the Quran. Its purpose is to give context, interpretation, and explanation so that one can clearly grasp God’s will.

The Markaz’s leader said he had always renounced treating personality but issues, stressing that this year’s Ramadan lecture would explain the feud between him and Onikijipa.

According to him, the Kwara-based cleric who is always addressed as mufti (an Islamic jurist) had always pointed an accusing finger on his father (late Sheikh Adam) for not including his father’s name in the list of the noble clerics he mentioned in one of his books.

Before the lecture, Adam had challenged Onikijipa to be his subordinate while claiming that the latter came to his father’s institution to learn when he was already lecturing there.

He said, “I had finished an advanced class, gone to Kano State to learn more and returned to Markaz for lecturing after my father insisted that I stay before Sulaimon Farooq resumed Sanawi’yah Idadi (elementary) class. Who am I fighting with? How can he be saying Sheikh Adam (my father) offended him? The offence is that my father listed all the noble Islamic clerics in one of his books and refused to mention his father.

“Who’s even his father? His father is not the heir of the Onikijipa lineage. The people who reside in the compound of the Onikijipa lineage are the original and worthy ones to be referred as the Onikijipa. That’s their tradition in Ilorin. One Alfa Alabi Onikijipa is the recognized heir of the Onikijipa lineage. He’s one of the first students of Sheikh Taju Al-Adaby.”

At the lecture, Adam did not mention Onikijipa’s name directly, but he had earlier assured his congregation that he was going to give an in-depth explanation of what led to the feud between them.

He therefore addressed the Kwara-based cleric as “the person” and “he” throughout his narration.

“I am starting a discussion on this to vindicate Imam Fulani, who was framed for my sickness. Although I have been advised not to speak on the matter, I insisted. The sickness happened to me in 2022. Two months before it happened, I went to Ilorin for a wedding ceremony at Imam Fulani’s house. I wanted to go pay homage to the Kwara governor alongside Imam when he came. We were at Mudir Makama’s place when he met us, and one of his boys used a handkerchief to rub my neck. He collected the handkerchief from him before the clerics finally collected it from him.

The cleric continued, “He told my PA that he should help him retrieve the item he threw in my pocket. When he took the content out, it happened to be two gourds. So the clerics that followed me suggested that he should be given the gourds because he claimed that they were for protection, and he must slaughter an animal to appease it after usage.

“He left with them. He also noticed that I was still conscious despite not being able to speak. He then returned and brought other items that would be used to touch my head. So, my son disagreed with him. He was now telling the cleric that was with me that I was paralysed. Although they questioned his submission.”

The Markaz leader named three Islamic scholars — Dr Olaoti, Alfa Haroon Rosheed and Alhaji Yusuf Hamrah — as those Onikijipa told at the hospital that he was paralysed.

Debunking the claim on Sunday in Ilorin, Onikijipa swore with the Quran that he wasn’t responsible for Adam’s illness while beckoning the curses in the holy book to be his if he truly were.

“This is the Quran and we are in the month of Ramadan. We have not broken our fast and we are in the house of God. Since, I began my life, I have not sworn with the holy book but I will do this time.

“God, I’m in your house, if I Sulaimon Farooq, the son of Aminat knows anything about Mudir Markaz’s illness, let the curses in this holy book be mine. I repeat it four times to show my innocence. But if I don’t, and they are framing me up across the world, let the curses be upon them,” Onikijipa said.

The mufti, however, did not comment on the superiority claim and the lineage story told by Adam.

Bitcoin hits $87,000 as crypto prices rise

Bitcoin and major cryptocurrencies saw significant gains in Monday’s early trading, with Bitcoin reaching approximately $87,480.

This represents a 3.71% increase. Ethereum also experienced a notable rise, climbing 4.05% to trade at $2,093.

The overall cryptocurrency market capitalization increased by 2.94% over the past 24 hours, now standing at $2.84 trillion.

The market’s positive momentum prevailed despite looming concerns regarding upcoming U.S. tariffs and the anticipated release of key economic data later in the week, suggesting strong investor confidence within the crypto sector.

Other notable performers included XRP, Cardano, and Dogecoin, which posted gains of 3%, 2%, and 3.8%, respectively. Chainlink, Avalanche, Hedera, and Stellar recorded growth ranging from 3% to 10%.

“Bitcoin is holding above $86,000, registering a 3% gain today. The key resistance level to watch is $86,700; a breakout could pave the way for $90,000,” said Vikram Subburaj, CEO of Giottus.

Bitcoin’s market capitalisation surged to $1.727 trillion, with dominance rising to 60.73%.

Its 24-hour trading volume soared by 93% to $18.2 billion, while stablecoin transactions accounted for 94.74% of total crypto trading, reaching $57.58 billion, according to CoinMarketCap.

Solana emerged as a standout performer, surging over 7% in the past 24 hours to trade above $139.

The rally was fueled by reports suggesting that President Trump’s April 2 tariffs may be more targeted than initially feared, easing market concerns.

Solana’s momentum aligns with unprecedented acceptance rates. DeFiLlama reported that Solana’s total value locked (TVL) reached 54.87 million SOL, its highest level since June 2022. Ali Charts revealed that a record 11.09 million addresses now hold SOL, underscoring growing adoption.

Additionally, over $72 million in assets have recently been bridged from Ethereum to Solana. Solana’s weekly active addresses (17 million) significantly exceed Ethereum’s (1.8 million), while Binance’s rising SOL wallet balances point to fresh accumulation following recent selling activity.

Institutional acceptance of Solana continues to grow, with Volatility Shares launching two Solana futures ETFs (SOLZ and SOLT on Nasdaq on March 21.

Major asset managers, including Franklin Templeton and VanEck, have also applied for spot Solana ETFs, signalling increased interest in the cryptocurrency.

BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes expressed optimism about Bitcoin’s trajectory, stating, “The Fed’s policy orientation could help Bitcoin achieve $110k before it retests $76.5k.

Leader of the group, Charity Ijoshe Omole said they have lost confidence in the senator.

She said; “We have lost confidence in her because of her gross misconduct that led to her suspension in the Senate and we the Kogi Central not to be represented.

“We have cone to recall her, because we cannot afford not to be represented. This petition is from Concerned Kogi Youth and Women.

In the petition addressed to the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and titled, “Constituents Petition for the Recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on grounds of Loss of Confidence”, the petitioners said; “We, the undersigned being duly registered voters of the Kogi Central Senatorial District, hereby invoke our rights under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to formally demand the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Nigerian Senate.

Why I don’t believe in pentecostal churches miracles – Daddy Freeze

Media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, better known by his stage as Daddy Freeze, has questioned the evidence of miracles at Pentecostal churches in Nigeria.

In a recent Outside The Box podcast, Daddy Freeze declared that he doesn’t think Nigerian pastors’ claims of miracles are real.

Daddy Freeze contended that while Nigerian pastors have failed to work comparable miracles on public persons, the Bible’s account of Jesus’ miracles was verified and featured famous people.

He cited examples of high-profile individuals, such as Dora Akunyili and Mr. Ibu, who were afflicted with serious health issues not healed by Nigerian pastors despite their prayers.

Daddy Freeze said: “I’m sorry but I don’t believe in any of the miracles in any Pentecostal church. I don’t have a problem with the pastors but I don’t believe their miracles.

“My IQ is 156. I will have to be pretty dumb to be able to [believe in miracles in Nigerian churches]. Christ walked into the temple on a Sabbath and there was a man with a withered hand and Christ healed him. Christ raised Lazarus from death.

“He raised the Pharisee’s daughter also from the death. He healed blind Bartimaeus. Everybody knew blind Bartimaeus. The woman with the issue of blood, there were some very prominent people who we all know we healed by Christ.

“But in Nigeria today, there’s nobody… Dora Akunyili was dying of cancer, every Nigerian G.O prayed for her, they couldn’t heal her.

“Mr Ibu was deteriorating to the point they have to amputate him and nobody could heal him. And then he died and nobody could raised him. Don’t tell me you did miracles. I want proofs.”

  • I have no link to any militant group, says Fubara

I have no link to any militant group, says Fubara

Therivers suspended governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara, has cautioned against associating him with any militant group.

In a statement released by his chief press secretary (CPS), Nelson Chukwudi, the governor claimed that those spreading phoney footage of the pipeline attack were making a concerted effort to link them to his followers.

According to the statement, the communities where the incidents were allegedly reported had already responded, denying any reports of explosions on oil and gas facilities within their borders and assuring that all vital government assets were secure, safe, and operating effectively.

The statement reads: “For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group, does not contemplate any such association, and has no reason to encourage any criminal group or elements, anywhere in the State or Niger Delta, to undertake any action inimical to the peace of the people or safety and security of oil and gas facilities, and by extension, the economy of the country.

“The Governor had repeatedly made it clear at every public event that the peace of the state is paramount to him, and that he would pay any price to secure and sustain peace in the State, as it is only in an atmosphere of peace and security that governance and development can thrive.

“Governor Fubara vehemently warns purveyors of violence and economic sabotage to steer clear of the State, and avoid any attempt to use his name or capitalise on the present political crisis to foment trouble in the State.

“It is also important to warn bloggers and social media hirelings to stop, forthwith, their campaign to create atmosphere of tension, chaos and anarchy in the State, as their fake reports and posts in the last couple of days have triggered enough wrong decisions that would not help the State move forward.

“Security agencies should take note of these fake videos designed to misinform the people, and further paint the State in bad light, and take every necessary steps to contain them, and bring those behind them to book.”

  • Frank Edoho speaks on Mercy Chinwo’s legal battle with her ex-manager

The TV host Frank Edoho has offered his thoughts on the continuing story of financial appropriation between gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former manager, Eezee Tee.

Ezee Tee, whose true name is Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, was charged with dishonest conversion and money laundering.

He is charged with dishonestly converting monies from Chinwo’s events and internet platforms and laundering $340,000.

Additionally, Chinwo accused him of surreptitiously substituting a new contract for the one she had signed in 2017 without getting her permission.

In his response, the music executive described the gospel singer’s claims as “lies from the pit of hell”.

In a recent Instagram video, the media personality revealed that Eezee Tee was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to clarify discrepancies in the label’s accounts.

According to Edoho, a meeting was held between Chinwo’s team and Eezee Tee and they agreed to an account audit.

The TV host alleged that Eezee Tee still owed Chinwo some money from their contractual agreement.

Edoho claimed that the available facts show discrepancies in the accounts operated by Eezee Tee. He emphasized that two audits have been conducted, which revealed “discrepancies in the accounts”.

The media personality also mentioned that another artiste Judikay conducted her audit and “found discrepancies”.

“Non-Nigerians, especially Africans always believed Nigerians stick to narratives without facts. And I found this to be true. In the case of Mercy Chinwo and EeZee Tee Conceptz everybody is just using emotions no facts,” he said.

“I decided to wade into the matter to find solid facts. The facts that have not seen the light of the day. The first thing. Why is Mercy Chinwo avoiding audit? Her team is not avoiding audits. As a matter of fact, two audits were done on the 17th of February 2023 at the behest of Apostle Anslem. There was a mediation meeting that had Mercy Chinwo, her husband, Ezekiel from EeZee Tee Conceptz.

“And it was agreed at the meeting that audit would be handed over to a company. Two weeks after the assignment was given the company withdrew itself from the audit assignment because EeZee Tee Conceptz was not forthcoming with all the documents, the paper trail of all the transactions that took place so that we could know who owed what.

“At that time, Mercy Chinwo’s team took the matter to the EFCC. EFCC duly invited Ezekiel to its headquarters.

“The thing is, after another audit was done, it was found out that he owed her some money and had to pay. They did not coerce him. He had to pay two installments owed to Mercy. And he has not completed that amount. And they are saying that EFCC is torturing him…

“Judikay, another wonderful artiste, did her own audit and discrepancies were found.

“Let us be clear unless there are other facts that surface according to what I have, audits were performed and discrepancies were found.”
