CBN announces date for next MPC meeting

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been scheduled for March 20 and 21, 2023.

The meeting would take place in Abuja over two days, according to the apex bank.

Members of the committee include Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Chairman); Aisha Ahmad, Deputy Governor, Financial System Stability, CBN, (Member); Edward Adamu, Deputy Governor, Corporate Services, CBN, (Member); Folashodun Shonubi, Deputy Governor, Operations, CBN, (Member); Kingsley Obiora, Deputy Governor, Economic Policy, CBN, (Member); Festus A. Adeni

Aliyu Ahmed, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance; Momodu Omamegbe, Security & Exchange Commission; Mike Obadan, Department of Economics and Statistics, University of Benin; Mohammed Salisu, Senior Special Assistant to The President, Development Policy; and (Member).

The MPC is the Bank’s highest-ranking committee for formulating policy.

Its duties include assessing the state of the economy’s financial and economic conditions, deciding on the best course of action for the short to medium term, routinely reviewing the CBN’s monetary policy framework, and making modifications as needed.
