CBN reschedules September 2019 MPC Meeting

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Tuesday said its 269th Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting will no longer take on the dates earlier announced last week.

The apex bank had earlier fixed the meeting for Monday, September 23 and Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at MPC Meeting Room, 11th Floor, Wing C, CBN Corporate Headquarters, Abuja by 10am one the first day and 8am on the second day.

But in a statement signed by Mr Isaac Okorafor, the Director of Corporate Communications at the CBN, it was stated the MPC will now hold on Thursday, September 19 and Friday, September 20, 2019 at the same venue earlier announced.

“This is to inform all our stakeholders and the general public that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting No. 269, earlier scheduled for Monday, September 23 and Tuesday, September 24, 2019, will now hold on Thursday, September 19 and Friday, September 20, 2019,” the statement issued yesterday said.

“All inconveniences caused by this change are highly regretted,” it added.

The MPC meeting is chaired by Governor of the CBN, Mr Goidwin Emefiele, who also addresses the media at the end of the two-day gathering by reading out what the members felt about the economy and what should be done. He also uses the platform to announce decision of the committee on key monetary rates.
