The Nigerian naira traded at different rates against the United States dollar on Friday, July 17, 2026, with the parallel market continuing to record a higher exchange rate compared with the official window.

At the Lagos Parallel Market, commonly known as the black market, Bureau De Change (BDC) operators sold one dollar for ₦1,425 and bought it at ₦1,412, according to market sources.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognise the parallel market and has advised individuals seeking foreign exchange to conduct transactions through authorised banks.

The exchange rates were as follows:

Dollar to Naira black market rate:

  • Selling rate: ₦1,425/$1
  • Buying rate: ₦1,412/$1

For the official CBN rate, the dollar traded within a range of ₦1,378 to ₦1,382.

Dollar to Naira CBN rate:

  • Highest rate: ₦1,382/$1
  • Lowest rate: ₦1,378/$1
