FAAN to crack down on touting, harassment of passengers at airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has established a task group to combat touting and passenger harassment at airports.

Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director of FAAN, stated recently at her office that the Authority is aware of incidences of passengers at Nigerian airports being harassed and extorted by louts, resulting in a poor experience for travellers. She also stated that she intends to personally engage with all government departments working at airports to ensure compliance with anti-touting and anti-extortion policies.

She warned that there would be strict disciplinary action for misconduct as a dedicated task force has been established, led by Mr. Henry Agbebire. She also said magistrate courts will be set up at international airports to prosecute offenders quickly, while dedicated phone lines and QR codes will allow passengers to report harassment or bad experiences.

She reiterated FAAN’s commitment to delivering exceptional service and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all passengers and airport users.
