Kaduna Govt signs MoU with Chinese Firm on Renewable Energy

The Kaduna State Government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies in Beijing, China, to advance the state’s Smart City Project.

Governor Uba Sani signed the agreement on behalf of Kaduna State, while Chris Lu, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Technologies, represented the company. The signing ceremony was attended by President Bola Tinubu, along with ministers and other senior government officials.

In a statement, Governor Uba Sani explained that the Smart City project aims to enhance security, improve efficiency and transparency in public services, boost competitiveness, and attract talent and investment to Kaduna State. The ultimate objective is to create a safer and more intelligent environment in Kaduna.

As a key strategic partner, Huawei will provide cutting-edge solutions and expert technical support for various aspects of the project. This includes the development of a State-Level Unified Command Center, enhanced security measures, an Intelligent Traffic System, E-Government and Office Automation, Smart Education, Smart Healthcare, ICT Talent development, Renewable Energy, and Public Transportation.

Governor Sani also announced that a joint committee between the Kaduna State Government and Huawei will be formed to finalize the details of the Implementation Plan, Funding Arrangements, and the Technology to be Deployed. Both parties are committed to ensuring that the project is practical, sustainable, and valuable to the state.
