In February, the Nigerian Armed Forces stated it neutralised 974 terrorists and detained 621 suspected terrorists and kidnappers around the country as part of its counter-terrorism efforts.

Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director Defence Media Operations, briefed journalists on the armed forces’ activities for February on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in Abuja. He also stated that various weaponry and ammunition were confiscated, and 466 abducted victims were freed during the month under review.

He exhorted terrorists to repent and come to the negotiating table for peace, as the Armed Forces will continue to punish unrepentant criminals with enormous military power.

The development came only days after the Rivers State Police Command paraded the corpse of cult leader 2Baba for the murder of DPO Bako Angbashim.

During the weekly report of the Armed Forces’ activities in January, Buba stated that on January 10, the air component of Operation Hadin Kai killed three top commanders of the Islamic States of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.

According to him, the air attacks targeted and destroyed the three leaders, Abou Maimuna, Abou Zahra, and Commander Saleh, who were on a canoe with their lieutenants.
