At least 55 people are believed to have been kidnapped by a terrorist gang while accompanying a bride in Damari town, Sabuwa Local Government Area, Katsina State.
Although security services have yet to acknowledge the incident officially, a resident informed Channels Television in a phone call on Friday that it took place on Thursday about 8:00 p.m.
He did, however, mention that three security volunteers died while attempting to rescue the victims.
“Before the hoodlums attack the victims on a canter vehicle, the victims were initially over 70 mostly friends to the bride in which several others escaped”, he added.
Sabuwa, apart from being an agrarian area, also remains one of the security front line LGAs grappling with the activities of bandits and their collaborators mostly informants to bandits.
