Bandits have killed the Chief of Gidan Usmanu Village, Auwal Wali, in his residence at the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The military authorities verified the attack in a statement on Tuesday, despite the fact that specifics are still hazy.

The attack has not yet been addressed by the Taraba State Police Command.

Oni Olubodunde, the spokesman for Army 6 Brigade, expressed sympathy to the monarch’s family and promised to hold those responsible for the attack accountable.

He claimed that Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 operation Whirl Stroke, made an operational visit to isolated communities in the state’s Lau and Karim Lamido Local Councils.

Olubodunde claims that the purpose of the visit was to bolster the relationship between the Army and the communities in order to drive out criminal elements that were hibernating in the area and to reassure the locals of the troops’ everlasting commitment to securing the inhabitants.

“We are here to express our condolences to the people of Gidan Usmanu and also to reaffirm our commitment to the safety and well-being of the people of Taraba State,” Uwa was quoted as saying.

“Your support is invaluable to our mission, and we will continue to work together to ensure a secure environment for all residents.”

He emphasized the vital role that the residents of Karim-Lamido play in assisting the brigade’s operations, even as he urged the community to report any suspicious activity in the region for swift action.

Britus Dan-Jos, the Chief of Wurkun District and Chairman of the Karim-Lamido Local Government, thanked the military for its unwavering support in his speech. He praised the close ties that exist between the military and the Karim-Lamido community.
