Police in Ekiti State have arrested four suspects in connection with the disappearance of a newborn baby from Okeyimi Health Centre in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

The incident caused panic and distress among the baby’s mother, her family, hospital staff, and other patients when nurses on duty discovered the infant was missing in the morning.

Among those taken in for questioning are hospital staff, the child’s mother, a security guard, and other individuals linked to the case. So far, the hospital management has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

However, the state police command spokesperson, SPAbutu Sunday, informed the media that four suspects had been arrested and were providing valuable information to aid the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Joseph Eribo, has instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to launch a thorough investigation to locate the missing baby.

“The CP has ordered the SCID to conduct a comprehensive investigation and ensure the safe return of the baby. Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime and are cooperating with us,” Sunday stated.
