Gunmen after me for exposing them, man alleges

A middle-aged businessman, Mr Okechukwu Kwekwe, from Umuriam Community in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, has raised the alarm over threats by gunmen to overrun him and his family.

Kwekwe told journalists in Owerri on Wednesday that hoodlums had been threatening him since he revealed details about their operations in the town.

It should be noted that security issues dominated the community at the end of last year, forcing most residents to live in fear.

Kwekwe also revealed that his family members have ran away from the community out of fear. The entire community he added can no longer sleep with both eyes closed.

He said: “My wife and children are on the run. People in my village are nologer sleeping with their two eyes closed as a result of the hoodlums’ activities.”

Kwekwe has therefore pleaded with the security agencies and International Community to come to the aid of his Community.

“Since I gave the information to the security agencies, the hoodlums now want me dead,” he said.
