Gunmen kill five in Kaduna community

At least five people were killed and several others were injured when bandits attacked the Anguwar Dankali community in the Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

 

The Kaduna State Police Command’s Acting Public Relations Officer, ASP Manir Hassan, confirmed the attack to reporters, stating that it occurred around 11 p.m. on Friday.

According to Hassan, the assailants descended upon the community in large numbers, firing indiscriminately to instill fear in the residents.

He clarified that in the process, five individuals who were outside their homes were fatally shot by the attackers, while seven women were kidnapped and taken to an undisclosed location.

Hassan went on to reveal that the police received a distress call, prompting them to pursue the bandits. As a result, all seven abducted women were successfully rescued on Saturday morning.

The police spokesperson also stated that one of the bandits was apprehended, while the rest managed to flee, sustaining gunshot injuries during the operation.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command has reported the arrest of 10 suspected kidnappers in various parts of the state through separate operations. The suspects were paraded at the command’s headquarters, and according to the PPRO, they were apprehended between September and October 3.

He revealed that a cache of dangerous weapons, including three AK-47 rifles, three improvised revolvers, 448 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm live ammunition, and other evidence, were seized from the suspects.
