Inspector, two security officers shot in Ogun hotel robbery

A police inspector and two security guards were shot by suspected armed robbers in Sagamu Local Government Area, Ogun State, Nigeria.
The victims were shot on Friday during a robbery operation at a hotel, while police officers fought the robbers in a gun battle.
The injured policeman and security guards were taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu for treatment.

This was made known through a statement by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stating that the Sagamu Area Command received an urgent call around 1 a.m., reporting that armed individuals were conducting criminal activities at Remo Majestic Hotel in Sagamu.

“At about 0100hrs a distress call was received by Acpol Sagamu that armed hoodlums were operating at Remo Majestic Hotel in Sagamu. Based on the report a combined team of Policemen were mobilized to the scene,” she said.

Odutola stated that upon spotting the police, the criminals initiated a hail of gunfire, prompting the officers to engage them. Two of the assailants sustained fatal wounds, while the rest fled into a nearby forest with gunshot injuries.

Among the items recovered from the robbers were two locally crafted single-barrel firearms, four unused cartridges, 13 spent cartridges, a large pair of scissors, 10 Android phones, one Java phone, and a white Toyota Venza car with Abuja registration number BWR 123DD, along with other belongings.

Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun, directed an immediate pursuit for the two fleeing suspects who had sustained gunshot wounds.
