Police investigators in Ondo State, have widened their search for a man named Kehinde Olanipekun. He is wanted for causing harm to his wife, Damilola, after she accused him of making sexual advances toward his 14-year-old stepdaughter.
Kehinde allegedly used a machete to attack his wife, Damilola, for daring to inquire about his inappropriate relationship with his stepdaughter in their residence in Owo, Ondo State.
Sources in Akure, the state’s capital, revealed that the victim is currently receiving medical treatment at a private hospital in Owo due to the severity of the injuries sustained during the brutal assault by her husband, who has since fled.
It was reported that the stepdaughter, after enduring numerous advances from the suspect, finally confided in her mother, who confronted her husband.
According to the source, the stepdaughter disclosed that the sexual harassment had been ongoing for a considerable period, but she had refrained from informing her mother out of fear.
“But when she could no longer bear the pressure mounted on her by the step-father, she summoned courage and told her mother.”
According to reports, the husband didn’t deny the accusation but initially apologized. However, a few days after the wife’s confrontation, the suspect abruptly returned from work, sent their two children on an errand, and then launched a brutal attack on his wife with a sharp cutlass after locking the doors.
The victim was subjected to a vicious assault by the suspect, and despite attempts by neighbors to intervene, they were unable to rescue her due to the locked doors.
Reports also reported that the suspect fled the scene after the victim feigned unconsciousness as a result of the savage attack.
Subsequently, the victim reportedly mustered the strength to unlock one of the sealed doors, allowing their concerned neighbors to gain access to the house. They promptly took her to the hospital.
At the time of her admission to the hospital, the victim was unconscious but was later revived by the medical staff.
When contacted, Funmi Odunlami, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the assault on the woman by her husband.
Odunlami mentioned that the state police command has initiated a search for the husband, who is currently on the run.
