A magistrate court in Ekiti has sentenced one George Joseph to one-month community service for stealing a handkerchief in a church.
Elijah Adejare, a police inspector, told the court that a 35-year-old man committed the offence on August 6 at Ile Abiye in Ado-Ekiti.
He said Joseph stole one keyboard converter valued at N10,000 and the handkerchief valued at N500 belonging to St. Luke Anglican church Ile Abiye, Ado-Ekiti.
Adejare added that the convict confessed to the crime while the police recovered the stolen items from him, adding that his offence contravened section 302 of the criminal laws of Ekiti state 2021.
Tomiwa Daramola, the magistrate, found the defendant, guilty and sentenced him to one-month community service to be supervised by a Nigeria correctional centre officer in Ado-Ekiti.
