NDLEA nabs South African with methamphetamine consignment in Abuja

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency detained a South African man, Erasmus Jean Pierre, 29, on Wednesday, August 23, in an attempt to export 2.6 kilogrammes of methamphetamine concealed in his luggage to the Middle East via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

NDLEA officers intercepted Pierre during the outward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airlines aircraft ET 404 from Abuja to the Middle East via Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, according to NDLEA on Sunday.

The whitish powdered unlawful material, factory packed, was located in various portions of his suitcase after a comprehensive investigation.

The suspect, upon investigation, arrived in Lagos through Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on Saturday, August 19, and came into Abuja on Tuesday 22nd August.

He took possession of the brown bag containing the drug consignment on Wednesday, August 23 before heading to the Abuja airport for his flight out of Nigeria where he was apprehended.
