NSCDC apprehends seven suspected rail track vandals in Plateau

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Plateau Command has apprehended seven individuals for the act of vandalizing railway tracks and sleepers within the state.

Alexander Barunde, the Commandant of the Corps in the state, showcased the suspects in Jos, stating that his team apprehended them at Kwakwi community in Riyom Local Government Area of the state.

He elaborated that the arrests were made based on intelligence received from certain members of the community.

Barunde added that among the items confiscated from the suspected vandals were sixty pieces of railway tracks, thirty sleepers, and various other materials.

”The suspects loaded the items in two trucks and headed to a yet-to-be-identified destination.

”My men apprehended and brought them here for interrogation.

”The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he said.

Ahmed Mohammed, one of the suspects, refuted any involvement in the vandalism, asserting that they were solely hired to transport the items.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported this development, coinciding with the state government’s finalized plans to revive rail mass transit operations within the Jos and Bukuru metropolis.
