Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested nine individuals in Sokoto for the manufacturing of fake pillows posing a threat to human health.

Presenting the suspects at the Command Headquarters in Sokoto on Wednesday, Bello Alkali-Argungu, the NSCDC Commandant in the state, disclosed that the apprehended individuals, including underage boys, were captured at various locations in the metropolis.

Alkali-Argungu explained that the accused utilized contaminated materials sourced from waste bins, drainages, and other locations in the metropolis to craft and sell pillows to unsuspecting members of the public.

The materials involved in this illicit production included used sanitary pads, children’s pampers, rags, clothing, and various waste materials discarded in garbage.

He emphasized that after thorough investigations, the suspects would face charges in court, while cautioning the public against the use of counterfeit pillows and bedding.

Simultaneously, Alkali-Argungu oversaw the decoration ceremony of 471 recently promoted personnel in the state. He urged the newly promoted staff to maintain discipline and consider their new ranks as motivation for exemplary service.
