The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a young man reportedly found in possession of a firearm within the grounds of a church in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP N.R. Rimvyok, confirmed the arrest during an interview on Monday morning.

He stated, “At the moment, there is nothing to report yet as investigations are still ongoing. So, we don’t have anything to report yet, until after the investigation.”

When asked whether NSCDC personnel carried out the arrest, Rimvyok replied, “Yes, he was.”

The arrest comes amid a wave of attacks and killings in Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas of the state.

Between March 28, 2025  and April 2, 2025 five communities were attacked, resulting in the deaths of over 70 individuals.

It was gathered that the suspect was apprehended on Sunday at approximately 8:30 a.m. during a routine patrol by NSCDC operatives around the church premises.

The individual has since been transferred to the NSCDC headquarters in Jos for further investigation.
