Police apprehend ‘most wanted’ traffic robber in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command announces the apprehension of the notorious suspected traffic robber who had been at the top of their wanted list. The suspect was operating in the vicinity of Ijora Badia within the state.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, verified the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, revealing that the police had been pursuing the suspect for the past six months.

Hundeyin mentioned that the officers of the Ijora Badia Division had engaged in collecting actionable intelligence regarding the operations of the suspected 18-year-old Olawale Odunsi prior to his apprehension.

He further explained that the suspect had purportedly participated in numerous instances of traffic robbery in the vicinity of Iganmu and under the Ijora Bridge, as well as their surrounding areas.

“Many victims of the suspect described him as a deadly attacker with his dreadlocks.

“He evaded arrest several times in the past. Fortunately, on Tuesday, at about 3.30 p.m., acting on an Intel gathered that the suspect and his terror gang members were about to operate at Iganmu underbridge.

“Operatives from Ijora Badia Division were quickly mobilised to the scene, and the suspect was arrested while coming out of his criminal hideout.

“His gang members escaped from the scene. The suspect was taken to the station, where he confessed to the crime. Investigation is ongoing,” he said.
