The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two suspected illicit drug dealers in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, during a raid on a suspected drug hideout.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, identifying the suspects as Promise Faṣọla and Ileri-Oluwa Alao.
Abutu said officers recovered substances suspected to be colorado, Indian hemp and loud from the suspects. Other items seized included a Point of Sale machine, an Android phone and a power bank.
According to him, the suspects confessed to involvement in drug trafficking and will be arraigned in court after investigations are concluded.
He explained that the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the New Iyin Division at the Alade Garage area in Basiri, believed to be a known drug distribution centre.
Reacting to the operation, Commissioner of Police Michael Falade praised the officers for carrying out the raid professionally and urged residents to continue providing timely information to help eliminate criminal activities in the state.
