The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old woman, Fatima Abubakar, in Yola South Local Government Area for allegedly torturing two toddlers under her care.

Confirming the arrest on Monday, the state police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, stated that investigations revealed she abused the children because they had urinated and defecated inside the house.

Abubakar was taken into custody after it was discovered that she had physically assaulted a two-year-old girl and a young boy.

Nguroje said, “Neighbours reported that Fatima, who is childless, had a history of maltreating the children, including denying them food and warning others not to interfere in her affairs.”

The police spokesperson further explained that the suspect confessed to the crimes following her arrest on Saturday.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, has directed that she be charged to court.
