The Benue State Police Command announced yesterday that a medical doctor in Rivers was nabbed in connection with the disappearance of three Benue children.

A medical doctor, whose identity remains undisclosed, was taken into custody by the Rivers State police after a report was issued regarding the missing children.

In a statement provided by Sewuese Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command based in Makurdi, it was revealed that the children were located under the doctor’s care in Rumuokoro.

Anene further mentioned that the Command received a complaint from Mr. Godwin Kpaakpa of Badagry Street, situated opposite St. Peter’s Church in Wurukum, Makurdi, on September 24, regarding the disappearance of two of his children.

Anene reported that the children, named Philomena and Benedict, were approximately six and two years old, respectively. She stated that the Command initiated an investigation and issued a nationwide alert. During an operation, the two missing children and an additional child were located in the doctor’s custody.

“On October 20, information was received from Rivers Police Command that in the course of an operation at, Rumuokoro area, they rescued three children from a medical doctor that seem to be the same children earlier reported by Benue Command.”

“A team of detectives was sent to Rivers state for identification and other necessary actions.”

“Fortunately, the two children were identified alongside one other child, Godsgift Julius, whose parents are yet to be identified.”

“Philomena and Benedict have been reunited with their family while Godsgift is yet to connect with his family. The medical doctor is being investigated by Rivers Command while efforts are being made to locate his accomplices in Benue,” she added.
