The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Emmanuel Achogwu, 30, for allegedly stealing four solar panels in the state’s Ikosi region on Monday.

The stolen four panels were designed to power lamps in the neighbourhood, according to state police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, who announced the arrest on his verified X handle on Monday.

Hundeyin went on to say that the suspect was one of the professionals hired to install the panels before returning to vandalise them.

He wrote, “Recently, #followlasg installed some solar-powered streetlights in some parts of the state. A few weeks later, the solar panels were stolen.

“The police were informed and got to work. A few days ago, 30-year-old Emmanuel Achogwu was arrested by officers from Alausa Division on Ikosi Road with four solar panels, moments after he removed them.”

“Investigation reveals that the suspect was one of the technicians contracted to install the solar-powered streetlights. The investigation is ongoing.”
