Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended a suspected informant allegedly linked to Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Yobe state.

Security sources cited by a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region said the suspect was picked up around 5:30am on April 23 by troops of Sector 2 deployed at the airport.

The sources disclosed that the individual was spotted acting suspiciously around a military installation before being taken into custody.

According to the report, the suspect refused to give useful information when questioned at the time of arrest.

He was later moved to the military intelligence bureau for further interrogation.

The sources also noted that although the security situation in the theatre remains largely calm, it is still unpredictable, while troops continue to maintain strong morale and operational effectiveness.

This development comes weeks after troops arrested two other suspected informants linked to Boko Haram/ISWAP in Damboa LGA of Borno state.
