Troops nab lawyer, six suspected bandits in Plateau

Troops of the Nigerian Army have nabbed a lawyer at Rimin Zayam village in Rimin Zayam village within the Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The lawyer, known as Abdullahi Abubakar, was apprehended last Saturday in relation to the murder of a Mobile Police officer on November 2, 2023, in Kuba village, Bokkos Local Government Area.

This information was shared in an official statement on Tuesday through the Nigerian Army’s social media account. The statement also revealed that the suspect confessed to his involvement in various criminal activities, including kidnapping, along with other members of his gang.

“Based on his confessional statement, on 5 November 2023, troops conducted raid operations at Kambal and Hurti villages in Bokkos LGA and arrested Yakubu Saidu and Nasiru Mohammed in connection with the crime.”

“Items recovered include 233 rounds of 7.62mm special, one Techno mobile phone, one Itel mobile phone, and one motorcycle,” the statement added.

Likewise, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) troops have detained six individuals suspected of being bandits in the Bokkos and Riyom local government areas of Plateau State.

The initial trio, comprising Ibrahim Mohammed, Salisu Abdullahi, and Idris Abdullahi, were interrogated by troops on October 30 in connection with an attack on farmers in Mai Hakorin Gold village. The remaining three suspects, David Emmanuel, Moses Dalyop, and Gabriel Davou, were apprehended for their alleged involvement in the murder of a commercial motorcyclist, Abdulkarim Saidu, in Shonong village.

Furthermore, on November 3, 2023, acting on reliable intelligence, Sector 4 OPSH troops arrested Sarajo Adam, a notorious armed robber, in Kwog village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. This arrested robber had been on the wanted list of security agencies for multiple robbery incidents in the general Barkin Ladi area and its surroundings.

“On October 30,  2023, based on credible information, troops arrested three suspects, Ibrahim Mohammed, Salisu Abdullahi, and Idris Abdullahi in connection with the attack on farmers at Mai Hakorin Gold village in Bokkos LGA, Plateau State.”
