The Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Monday flags-off the N48.7billion Ilesa water supply and sanitation project.
Speaking at the flagging off of construction of Transmission Mains and Booster Pumping Station and construction of 3NOS. 10,000M3 Concrete Reservoirs, Aregbesola said it would be the biggest singular project since the creation of Osun state.
The Governor, who disclosed that the federal government has spent N8.7billion on the dam project at Kajola, hinted that Islamic Development Bank has given the state N23billion.
According to him, the state would need N15.31billion to complete the project to enable people have 60million cubic litres water per day.
He explained that the contractor has assured that he would finished the work in 24 months, hence, the project would be ready by December 2019.
“We have spent N57million for compensation. It remain only one person which is CAC prayer mountain and the monarch will give him N3.424million on our behalf. We are sure that he won’t curse again if the monarch address him.
“Three pump will be located at the booster station at Iloba. Each reservoirs has capacity for 10million litres, hence we will have 30million cubic litres per day in the reservoirs.
“It remain distribution network which is the last part of it that we are yet to get money for. We are going to make it public for people to bid. Whoever want to channel water for people and sell would be allowed to run pipes. We have written the world Bank, federal government and the Islamic Development Bank for loan.
The consultant, Engr. Tawa Williams, said the provision of good water is part of six integral action plan of Aregbesola.
She said the physical aspect of the project would be completed in 2019, adding “it is going to be run by consultant for five years. It is not a dividend of democracy. It is not going to be free.
