Commission donates wheel chairs to physically challenged persons
The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission has donated 14 wheel chairs and N2,000 each to physically challenged persons in the state.
The Commission Chairman, Malam Lawal Maidoki, while inaugurating the distribution, said that the gesture was out of the numerous demands by the needy in the state.
He said that the beneficiaries had for a long time demanded for the support of the commission to get the items, to aid them in their daily activities.
“As such we secured the chairs from the various Zakkat given to the commission by individuals and today we have ensured that we fulfil their desired dreams,’’ Maidoki said.
The Chairman added that other Zakkat items to be distributed included 100 bags of Rice, 40 bags of Wheat, N90,000, a cow and two goats.
According to Maidoki, each bag will be given to one person with a transport fare of N 2,000 while three persons get N 30,000 each from the N90,000.
He added that the beneficiaries of the cow and the goat would get N5,000 and N10,000 respectively.
Maidoki commended Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of the state for sustaining the commission activities to the needy and wealthy individuals for supporting the government initiatives.
He called on the beneficiaries to always pray for the leaders and the country, to ensure more projects and programmes for the overall development of the society.
He called on them to always respect the law and order of the land and distance themselves from street begging as it had no base in religious teachings.
He urged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the gesture, to make a better future of their children and the society at large.
