FRSC to start “Operation Speak-Out” at motor parks
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is to start “Operation Speak-Out’’ for passengers in motor parks to caution drivers against speed and other forms of reckless driving.
Mr Philip Ozonnandi, the FRSC Commander in Ore, Ondo State, told newsmen in Ore on Thursday that the move was meant to create awareness to reduce road crashes.
According to Ozonnandi, most passengers do not speak-out or caution drivers when they speed and engage in reckless driving.
“Most passengers sleep off immediately a vehicle starts moving, This should not be the norm at all times as passengers have to be awake and not allow drivers to do what they like.
“We want to create this awareness so that passengers will speak out and will not be sleeping in the vehicles, ‘’ he said.
He said that officers would take the one-week “Operation Speak-Out’’ scheduled for Feb. 5 to Feb. 9 to Benin-Abuja, Okitipupa-Irele, Lagos-Sagamu, Ondo-Akure motor parks in Ore.
The sector commander, however, urged commercial drivers to always be patient while driving and obey all traffic rules in order to avert road crashes which might lead to loss of lives and property.
